Printed in the Journal of Pain and Palliative Care Pharmacotherapy in the March 2007 issue (Volume 21 Number 1)
Cover Essay Resonance: Erasure Editor's note: This issue begins the third year that the Journal covers show art by patients with pain as an expression of their feelings. Ms. Gofstein, the artist and author of the brief statement is from Chicago. We thank her for allowing the Journal to share her work and Mr. Mark Collen, creator and coordinator of PainExhibit.com who coordinates the artwork for the Journal. In the Fall of 2000, I developed severe, chronic facial pain. The dominance of pain obliterated all sense of inner self. 'Resonance' began as an effort to structure and distance myself from an overwhelming presence. This oil and collage artwork on a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) image is 17 inches long by 14 inches wide. ------------------------------------------- |
